In total 50,000 students enrolled for a study on one of the fourteen Dutch universities, an increase of 12 percent over one years earlier.

Crisis

The HBO-council can not indicate which college studies are most popular. The spokeswoman said it suspects that the number of applications also rose due to the financial crisis.

”Young people see more value in what a diploma in today’s knowledge society”, she says. The HBO-council provides to the colleges also no problems with the substantial number of additional students.
